On August 30, 1995, Dr. David K. Allison, chairman of Information Technology and Society at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History visited Cincom’s World Headquarters to conduct a 2 1/2 hour videotaped interview regarding the role of Cincom and the Chairman, Thomas M. Nies, in the evolution of the computer software industry. The video will become part of the Smithsonian Institutions permanent national collection on the history of information technology. A transcript of the tape will also be available on the Smithsonian’s Internet address.

This is an honor for all Cincomers: an honor that has taken 27 years to earn and is shared by very few other computer or software organizations. Due to this permanent video archive, which will reside in the Smithsonian Institution in our nation’s capital, Cincom will truly have a visible and prominent place in history.

“The Smithsonian is dedicated to documenting the Information Technology revolution, including the views of the leaders of the industry. Tom Nies is a valuable and necessary addition to the oral history collection, joining such industry leaders and Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Ken Olsen.” – David K. Allison, Smithsonian
